Aug 01, 2023Dash Bespoke Will Build One-Off Supercars From Its Carbon Fiber Chassis

If one of the squillions of supercars currently available on the market doesn't tickle your fancy, racing development company Dash-CAE has the answer. Its new Dash Bespoke division will happily build a one-off supercar based on a carbon fiber monocoque, giving prospective owners the chance to build their perfectly spec'd vehicle from seemingly limitless options, whether powered by a fire-breathing V12, a twitchingly quick EV powertrain, or anything in between. The form factor is also up to the consumer, with Dash Bespoke providing a turn-key product at the end of the process. It's the perfect solution for those who want more customization than Mansory can provide for a Lamborghini Revuelto or Novitec for a Ferrari SF90 XX.

As a company, Dash isn't new to high-performance composite manufacturing. With experience ranging from first-class aircraft seats and carbon fiber parts for luxury powerboats to Formula 1 engineering and prototyping, Dash-CAE leverages both additive manufacturing (like 3D printing) and carbon fiber lamination to build its TR01 monocoque. Forming the base of all Bespoke builds, the TR01 chassis weighs just 106 pounds, with space for two occupants in the bathtub-style body structure. Upon that framework, Dash Bespoke says it can accommodate just about any powertrain its customers desire, including internal combustion, hybrid, and fully electric builds.
And since potential owners will be starting with an almost completely blank slate, the supercar can also be styled according to their whims – presumably, Dash will collaborate with designers and coachbuilders to deliver a fully built machine to the end user. Furthermore, the company says it designed the monocoque to meet EuroNCAP crash standards, although whether the low-volume builder can also provide modern safety features like airbags, stability controls, and advanced driver assistance isn't clear. Keep your HANS device handy, just in case.

Speaking of, Dash Bespoke isn't just building supercars for well-heeled clients. The company says its TR01 chassis can serve as a clubsport racing car for an enterprising privateer, a one-off performance machine for driving enthusiasts, or a proof of concept for other low-volume manufacturers.
The company is putting its money where its mouth is next month, when it brings the first customer-specified supercar to the Goodwood Festival of Speed in Chichester, England – debuting at the same event as Gordon Murray's latest supercar. The so-called Dash Slipstream features an ultralight aluminum alloy suspension, Nitron electrohydraulic dampers, and a mid-mounted V8 engine supplied by Hartley – the same folks who fit an eight-cylinder in the Ariel Atom. Those performance bits ride on the monocoque by way of custom Dash-designed carbon fiber subframes, further proving the adaptability of the chassis.
The man who designed the P1 has teamed up with a YouTuber to reshape the hypercar into the fastest McLaren in the world.
Of course, the project will come at a cost. Dash Bespoke hasn't officially announced pricing for the TR01, but considering the Hartley V8 sitting behind it starts at $29,000 in kit form or more than $45,000 fully built, don't expect supercar performance for Miata money. Still, Dash says that one of the driving forces behind its Bespoke project is to leverage the stiff, light TR01 monocoque to a variety of form factors, reducing development costs compared to a traditional custom car. We'll be sure to seek out the Slipstream once it debuts in July and keep you updated accordingly.
